  CREMA News:

Jaipur National University offers its Clinical Research course at the CREMA campuses

Clinical Research Education and Management Academy (CREMA) has signed a Memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Jaipur National University to offer one year advanced post graduate course in clinical research at its campuses at Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Jaipur.

The program called Advanced Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Research Management (APGDCRM) could be done by graduates in life-sciences, botany, microbiology, biotechnology, zoology, chemistry, pharmacy, medicine, ayurveda, physiotherapy, homoeopathy and dentistry.

"We are proud to be associated with a reputed institute like CREMA for the one year program in clinical research. Clinical research throws open a whole new career option for students. Our aim is to impart a world-class on campus program, which befits the requirement of the industry for the most professionally trained clinical research professionals. We want to make the students employable meeting the standards set by the industry," said Sandeep Bakshi, Chancellor, Jaipur National University.

Mr. Vijay Moza, Chairman, CREMA, commenting on the tie-up, said "The program could be completed within a period of one year after graduation, compared to the conventional M.Sc program, which takes two years after graduation. After the completion of the course, a certificate is awarded by Jaipur University." According to him, there is a global demand of about two lakh fifty thousand trained professionals in the near future. Currently, only 4% of the total demand is being fulfilled.

India has been considered as a hub for clinical trials by pharma multinational companies (MNCs) due to its high quality and less expensive work resources. The recent economic recession, which has hit the West significantly, has further enhanced the necessity for MNCs for carrying out clinical trials in the country. The demand for clinical research professionals in India will increase manifold and is estimated to reach to 50,000 clinical research professionals by 2013 from just about 10,000 now.

The course curriculum has been designed in consultation with UK-based William Harvey Research Ltd. CREMA has partnered with Indian School of Integrated Learning (ISIL) & Speak First (UK) to train its Clinical Research students in Business Proficiency Skills. The first batch of the APGDCRM will begin in March 2010 for which the admissions have already begun and the training sessions would be held across the four CREMA campuses based in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Hyderabad.

The APGDCRM will not only include clinical research module but clinical data management, pharmacovigilance, management & soft skills module as well. Along with the main course modules of clinical research, the APGDCRM program will incorporate some key management topics like Modern Principles in Management, Organizational Behavior Studies, Finance, Human Resources Management, and Outsourcing Vendor Management.
